Last Friday night was the first night for BetUS racebook fans to bet Churchill Downs under the lights. It was a terrific move by a track that is known for the Kentucky Derby but not for anything else.
Hopefully, with the advent of slot machines, and better marketing like running races at night on Fridays, Churchill Downs could once again become one of he premier tracks in the United States....

Rachel Alexandra was among 24 nominations to Saturday’s 53rd Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Stakes. But it appears only four fillies will challenge the Preakness champ in the one-turn Grade 1 at 1 1/8 miles.
Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin nominated three fillies, but nary a one will run.

Grass racing returned to Belmont Park yesterday for the first time in a week, as just one of the five turf races were moved to the main track.
The Pick 6 was hit (not by me), and things may finally get back to normal, as we should have a fast track and perhaps even a firm turf course.
